Free Now apologises after €200 vouchers wrongly issued

Free Now has apologised after a technical error led to vouchers worth up to €200 being wrongly issued to users of the taxi app.

Customers were this morning invited to answer a Christmas-themed riddle where up to ten €20 vouchers were lodged into the accounts of those who solved it.

The company said the first 100 passengers to solve the riddle would receive the discount codes, which were marked as valid until 31 January 2024.

However, a “technical issue with the raffle” meant the vouchers were issued beyond the first 100 winners.

Those who solved the riddle but were outside the first 100 users have since had their vouchers revoked, Free Now said.

In a statement, the company added: “We express our sincere apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of this technical issue which has since been resolved.”

The first 100 winners of the raffle will still receive their prizes, it said.

Customers impacted by the issue will instead be entered into an “exclusive new raffle” with a prize fund of €20,000 worth of vouchers, ranging from €5 to €1,000, Free Now added.
